Meet the team
Charlie Waddell
CEO and Co-founder
Charlie’s experience includes working as the Executive VP of MeadWestvaco Air Systems, the General Manager of Desiccant Rotors International, the Founder and former CEO and CTO of GPS Air. Charlie has over 23 years designing HVAC systems and products for the residential, commercial, and industrial markets as well as for the automotive and aviation industries. Charlie received a BSEET from Old Dominion University and holds over 30 patents.
Charlie currently participates on ASHRAE SSPC 62.1, TC 2.3, SSPC 145.2, TRG4-IAQP, was the former Secretary of TC 8.12 and is currently a voting member on SSPC 145.2 and the TRG2-RAST committee.
Kurtis Bay
EVP of Sales and Co-founder
Kurtis is an accomplished executive with a history of delivering results.
With a talent for building infrastructure and assembling effective teams, Kurtis has successfully guided companies through transitions from private to public entities. Notable achievements include his work with organizations such as the Phoenix Suns, Johnson Controls, AtmosAir, and McKinstry, where he implemented sales and operational strategies under budget and ahead of schedule, driving long-term growth and success.
Kurtis holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Colorado, and certifications from Kellogg/Northwestern in Scaling Operations Linking Strategies, Sandler Sales Training in Sales Professional, and Saylor in Master Business Leadership.
Erin Mathe
Director, Marketing Communications and Public Relations
Erin brings more than 25 years of television broadcast and Public Relations experience to
Aeiro.
A former TV reporter turned PR professional, she has led national media campaigns for
brands such as Trane, American Standard, Maytag, Cargill, and PETCO. During the pandemic, Mathe worked extensively with media on the importance of indoor air quality, securing coverage explaining the benefits of the soft ionization filtration process.
Erin has a B.A. in Journalism from the University of St. Thomas and a French Minor.
Tom Beutell
EVP of Operations and Co-founder
Tom has focused on the HVAC industry and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) most of his 40-year professional career, in both technical and management roles.
Assignments with major HVAC manufacturers (JCI, Trane, Daikin) ranged from HVAC controls to marketing to region management roles. He also brings experience as an electrical consulting engineer (UPS, power).
Tom received a BSME from the University of Minnesota - Institute of Technology with additional emphasis in economics.
Ed Sobek, PhD
Chief Science Officer
Dr. Ed Sobek, a leading figure in environmental microbiology and public health, is dedicated to leveraging science for indoor environment safety. Raised in Pennsylvania, his fascination with fungi sparked early. Graduating with honors from Penn West University in 1993, he pursued advanced degrees from owa State University (MS), Texas Tech University (PhD), and the University of Tennessee (MBA)

In 2005, he founded Assured Bio Labs, LLC, pioneering innovations like the WhisperCare® system for continuous mold monitoring and the M-TRAP® cassette for bio-capture. His career spans diverse scientific inquiries, from fungal diversity's impact on asthma to air purification technologies against viruses like SARS-CoV-2.

Sobek's holistic approach integrates science with practical solutions like WhisperCare® and M-TRAP®, advancing microbial understanding and safeguarding public health, solidifying his visionary status in environmental microbiology.
